Automating the Manufacture of Building Products in Ireland

Maynooth, Ireland – Adelphi Automation, in partnership with FANUC Ireland, successfully hosted a high-impact open day event, "Automating the Manufacture of Building Products in Ireland," at FANUC’s state-of-the-art Automation Centre in Maynooth. The event, designed to showcase cutting-edge automation solutions tailored for the construction sector, attracted a strong turnout of industry leaders and building product manufacturers across the UK and Ireland, marking it as a significant milestone for automation in the sector.

The day highlighted FANUC’s world-renowned automation and robotic technologies, which have transformed factory operations globally. In collaboration with Adelphi Automation and Clerkin Consulting, FANUC offered live demonstrations, immersive experiences and detailed case studies of projects that underscore automation’s power to boost productivity, precision and safety in building product manufacturing.

Showcased Automation Solutions and Case Studies

Attendees were given a deep dive into specific projects where Adelphi Automation’s systems have been instrumental in transitioning manufacturing processes from manual labour to fully or semi-automated production lines. Highlights included:

  • Stud Walls: A semi-automated line incorporating robotic routing, screwing and manual fitting of electrical components.
  • Brick Façades: A fully automated line for modular construction, allowing entirely hands-free production.
  • Kitchen Cabinets: Automated screwing mechanisms for efficient cabinet assembly.
  • Steel Lintels: An advanced feeding line for de-coiling, straightening and cropping parts, coupled with automatic press brake tending.
  • Tiling and Wall Frames: Precise robotic handling of various tile sizes for bathroom pod wall frames.
  • Wall Tiles: Comprehensive factory-wide automation of 8x4 steel sheets, involving storage, laser cutting, press brake tending and robotic welding.

These examples illustrate Adelphi’s commitment to delivering streamlined automation solutions for building product manufacturers, including producers of precast concrete, steel and metal, cladding and insulation, brick and paving, roofing, PVC products, architectural joinery, windows and doors and offsite construction elements.

Strategic Expansion and Sector Success

Adelphi Automation’s Managing Director, Paul Stout, expressed his pride in the event’s success and the strategic importance of Adelphi’s recent expansion into Ireland, saying, “We’ve worked in the construction sector for years, consistently demonstrating how automation can increase productivity and safety.
